Joshua Frost is President Faculty of Arts Humanities and Business 25/26 at the University of Plymouth Student’s Union after serving a term as Vice President Activities 24/25. He graduated from the University of Plymouth with a bachelor’s degree in theatre and performance with a focus on Greek Theatre and undertook a masters programme in English literature where he had a keen interest in Tolkien’s literature and the concept of ‘the other.’
Further to his studies Josh has been an avid supporter and enjoyer of the arts, having performed himself in Sir Matthew Bourne’s Airborne Company, an all-boys dance company supported by the Theatre Royal, and received accreditations from the prestigious London College of Music. He believes wholeheartedly that there is more than academic merit in artistic pathways and that they give people avenues to connect and grow together especially in spaces such as universities.
As an estranged student Josh has also worked to highlight issues faced by students that don’t meet conventional expectations of individuals involved in higher education due to a number of factors. This insight allows him to understand that there is no clear-cut pathway through higher education and to seek the correct alterations if required. Through this work he hopes to ensure that all students can achieve academic success regardless of social and financial background.
Away from campus, Josh enjoys sport, having been president of the University’s Muay Thai club and enjoying running and swimming. He has also been involved with numerous productions across Devon, both amateur and professional, with his favourites being the open-air Shakespeare productions he takes part in every summer at Dartmouth Castle.
